The Djangobilly originally formed in Dallas, TX in the late 90’s by band leader Scott Prater (vocals/bass) released 2 albums, ‘Bluesabilly’ and ‘Scott Prater and the Djangobilly’ on the Jorge Records label. Upon Scott’s relocation to NYC, he reformed the group with an exciting international lineup. Pete Martin, trumpet player originally from London studied under Allen Handy and George Adie. Remy Foussard, lead guitarist is from Morocco and has a degree from Berklee in performance. Dan Nastro, born and raised in NYC has been playing Blues and Rock in the NYC club circuit since the mid-seventies and studied under the legendary R&B drummer Bernard ‘Pretty’ Purdie. The Djangobilly approach to Blues & Jazz is inspired by a deep appreciation of the ‘less is more’ philosophy of music which allows the sound to breath and lends itself well to Jazz improvisation over well-honed, high impact song structures. The Djangobilly is a throwback to the raucous juke joint era of high quality musicianship in a happy go lucky environment.
