Thai Rock Happenings - Sandy Disaster - Nov 28th 2012

Temporarily Closed

while we repair and rebuild from the wrath of hurricane Sandy

Dear Friends,

This has been a difficult month for all of us affected by Sandy.  I want to start by thanking our friends for their very generous support and all the kind letters and words of encouragement.  We are doing our best to get our doors back open, support the community and help each other, andbut we have a long way to go and require assistance from high places.

There are so many good people doing so many great things, from our neighbors to far away people that had not even heard of the Rockaways till now.  I have a hard time asking for help and does not get easier, but what I am seeing, the pure generosity from so many with so many different backgrounds and walks of life, I want to thank everyone and if you should see me down or sad, just remind me that it'll be ok, we are all here and helping each other.

These emails are hard for me to write, I would like to paint a rosy picture, but I cannot.  What I do believe is that, in time, we will all be able to get on with normal lives, but for now and through this coming winter, it will be challenging.  We are going to get there one small step at a time, and, while I know this is the way it will be, I still feel stressed that it is so.

The columns in this mailer are to promote some of the events and need I am aware of and working with to help the Rockaways clean up, repair and rebuild.  If there are any programs you would like me to include in the next mailer, please send them to me at [email protected].

Thank you for your continued support,
Robert :~)

Message from Bert:

Well the latest on the Rockaway Hurricane Benefit Concert.
It is being held on Sunday Dec.2nd @ 7:00p.m. The show will be at K.J. Farrells in Bellmore L.I. We desperately need your support in making this event a successful one. Please remember how much we enjoyed growing up at this incredible peninsula by the sea. We were very fortunate to have shared in the many good times we had. Now it is time to give back!! So many people need our help to get them back on their feet. Set the date aside and donate ONE day out of your busy lives to give back to our amazing hometown. We have some amazing people aboard 'so far' to help make this a great event. Danny Schneider,Adrienne Patashny, Robert Kaskel (owner of Thai Rock on B.92nd st.in Rockaway).Robert has suffered a great loss to his restaurant/music venue and wants to donate to this cause in any way he can. Their are more people who have offered their time and services which be announced soon.
Please, please my friends help us by supporting this cause.
Peace, B

Knights of Columbus Fundraiser

Since the storm members of the council have been working tirelessly to ensure the Council is repaired for the Christmas Season.

Unfortunately, the super storm has also caused flooding damage to our Council that will NOT be picked up by insurance. Through the years the Rockaway Council has been there not only for our members but also for our community. The council provides one of the few places for many of our wonderful community organizations and groups to assemble for meetings.

On Friday November 30th. DJs @ Work will be hosting a Radio Bingo Fundraiser and donating all the proceeds to help Msgr. William F. Burke/Rockaway Council cover repair costs incurred as a result of the Storm. Please come out to support the Knights and have a great time with friends and neighbors.

The theme for this Bingo is Ugly Christmas Sweaters, so pull the light up reindeer sweater out of the attic and come play some Radio Bingo. Doors @ 7pm, first game @ 8. Tickets are only $20 and available at the council.

For those members who cannot attend but are able to make a financial donation no matter the amount, please visit our website http://www.knightsofrockaway.com Please click on the DONATE NOW link which is on the home page below our calendar of events.
All donations will be used to repair our Council and provide our members and community a welcoming and comforting location. Any assistance that could be provided would be greatly appreciated. We will recover and we will rebuild!!! God Bless!!!
